Respiratory Disease Conference Begins March 8 A comprehensive conference on occupational and environmental respiratory disease will provide an update on a wide range of topics for physicians and other health care providers. The conference will take place March 8 through 10 at the Hotel Derek, 2525 West Loop South, and is sponsored by Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health. Internationally recognized experts in topics ranging from asbestos to occupational asthma will be featured. The 33 speakers represent 10 countries. Program directors are Dr. Philip Cagle, professor of pathology at Baylor, and Dr. George Delclos, associate professor of occupational medicine at the UT-Houston School of Public Health. The conference will include two days of lectures followed by question-and-answer sessions with expert panels, and a half-day, hands-on microscope session. This continuing medical education activity has been approved for AMA PRA credit. Session topics include: hypersensitivity pneumonitis, metal diseases, tobacco, silicosis and coal worker’s pneumoconiosis, sarcoidosis, occupational asthma and other airway diseases, asbestos, drugs, fumes and toxins, interstitial pneumonias, viruses, malignancy and cytology.
