BRANCHING OUT-A new $79 million, 64-bed community hospital and connecting medical office building in the Willowbrook area are the newest additions to The Methodist Health Care System.

The Methodist Health Care System recently announced the construction of a community health care facility in the Willowbrook area.

This new facility is part of the Methodist network of community hospitals that serves the outlying Houston communities. It is situated on 20 acres of land at the corner of Highway 249 and Willowchase Boulevard, one block north of F.M. 1960.

Methodist Willowbrook Hospital is a $79 million, 64-bed community hospital providing a broad array of services, including acute care services, diagnostic and treatment services, emergency care center, laboratory, blood bank and an inpatient and outpatient pharmacy. Specifically, acute care services will consist of beds for medical and surgical patients, an intensive care unit and a birthing center. Diagnostic and treatment services will consist of radiography/fluoroscopy, CAT scan, magnetic resonance imaging, mammography, ultrasound, pulmonary function test, nuclear medicine, cardiac and neurologic testing, four surgery suites and two minor procedure rooms.

The 173,000 square-foot hospital and the 139,000 square-foot medical office building connect on each floor, making it easy to move between physician offices and the hospital's medical facilities. Where possible, physicians and other health care professionals in the office building are located on the same floor as the services they most frequently need to access within the hospital. The medical office building houses specialists in obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics, internal medicine, family practice, orthopedics, general surgery, urology, neurology, gastroenterology and ophthalmology.

"Now, the community has convenient access to a facility that is owned and operated by Methodist Health Care System. We plan to bring the same commitment to quality and service to our community facilities as has been the hallmark of our flagship facility in the Texas Medical Center," said Rod Seidel, Methodist Health Care System senior vice president. "Through a unique mix of expertise, technology, and specialized care, we look forward to delivering many of the most needed and requested services close to home."

The hospital's goal is to provide distinctive, world-renowned medical care while reducing patient waiting time, enhancing convenience and maintaining cost-effectiveness. In addition, the hospital supports the spiritual needs of the patients with a chapel and a full-time pastor on site.
