UTHealth Department of Psychiatry’s Eighth Annual Update Conference
“Young Minds: Early Identification and Intervention in Behavioral Health” is the focus of this year’s Psychiatry Update, an annual conference hosted by the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). The Eighth Annual Psychiatry Update, to be held February 4, 2017, will cover a wide range of behavioral health conditions often first identified in children and youth, including mood disorders, addiction, autism, borderline personality disorder and trauma-related issues. The presentations will appeal to a variety of healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, family medicine practitioners, social workers, counselors and other mental health clinicians. The 2017 Psychiatry Update also will present findings from innovative research and theoretical advancements that suggest best practices for enhancing the work of mental health practitioners in caring for youth and families confronting these behavioral health conditions. The goal of the presentations is to provide evidence-based interventions that will address their needs. This daylong conference is offered to faculty, students, alumni and other professionals, including educators, who address mental health issues in children and adolescents. It includes up to 7.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM, continuing nursing education or social work credit hours.
