Ninth Annual Psychiatry Update: New Horizons in Clinical Practice

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences invites all mental health professionals to join us at the Ninth Annual Psychiatry Update: New Horizons in Clinical Practice. This year’s conference will provide updates on the recent advancements in treatment modalities, therapeutic methods as well as emerging multicultural and ethical issues while highlighting the importance of patient-centered care. Expert clinicians will discuss the latest findings from research and theoretical advancements that serve to enhance the work of mental health professionals. All practitioners who work with patients at any level will benefit from greater awareness of advances in evidence-based behavioral health interventions available to address their patients’ needs. This educational program offers CME credits, psychology CE credits and contact hours for nurses and social workers.

Educational Objectives

  • Describe new pharmacologic and therapeutic treatments available to mental health patients.
  • Describe 3 neurostimulation treatments currently available and their approved indications.
  • Discuss the latest understanding of risks and benefits of social media and its impact on mental health.
  • Identify new technological applications in the treatment of mental health.

Target Audience
Our primary audience includes psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers and other mental health professionals. Trainees are also encouraged to attend, including residents, medical students, nursing students and psychology interns.
