Brett Giroir, M.D.

Brett P. Giroir, M.D., is executive vice president and chief executive officer of Texas A&M Health Science Center, one of the fastest growing health-related institutions in the United States.

Dr. Giroir received his undergraduate degree in Biology, magna cum laude, from Harvard University and his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his post-doctoral training at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Dallas, and went on to achieve the rank of tenured professor at UT Southwestern. He held two endowed chairs and served as the associate dean for clinical affairs at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and later as chief medical officer at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas.

He has published extensively, with emphasis on host-pathogen interactions and novel therapies for life-threatening infectious diseases.
