Eric Richardson, Ph.D.
Associate Director, Biodesign
Eric Richardson came to the Texas Medical Center in Sept. 2015 as Associate Director of TMC Biodesign to help develop the fellowship program that offers design thinking, product development and venture formation curriculum and mentorship to create digital health and medical device startups. In addition to his role at TMC, he is a lecturer in the Department of Bioengineering as well as director of the Global Medical Innovation Masters Program at Rice University. Prior to joining TMC, he was Principal R&D Engineer at Medtronic Heart Valves in Santa Ana, California, where he led the development of a second-generation transcatheter heart valve that received FDA approval in 2015. Richardson, who has a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from the University of Minnesota, has co-authored numerous publications related to cardiovascular research and holds three patents.
